Our Story

Ebeneezer’s Eatery & Irish Pub sits on a piece of downtown Minot history. The space was once home to the original Cozy Bar, along with a laundromat and grocery store that served the community for years.

In 1999, when the small downtown bar was preparing to close, a local owner with a passion for Irish pubs saw an opportunity to keep it alive. Rather than let it disappear, he stepped in and began building something new — right in the heart of downtown. That decision marked the beginning of Ebeneezer’s.

From the start, the vision was simple: create an authentic Irish working man’s pub. Inspired by traditional pubs in Ireland, the space took shape one week at a time. Early renovations happened every Sunday, with doors reopening each Monday as loyal customers returned and watched the transformation unfold.

The name “Ebeneezer’s” comes from a story told during a trip to Ireland — of Ebeneezer Frog, who hid his gold from mischievous leprechauns trying to steal it. That spirit of Irish character and storytelling became part of the foundation of the pub itself.

Over the years, Ebeneezer’s continued to grow, evolving its menu and atmosphere while staying true to its roots. In 2011, the flood forced the restaurant to close for nine months. Despite the setback — and without the support of insurance — there was never a question of whether it would return. The pub was rebuilt in the same location, reopening just before St. Patrick’s Day in 2012.

Since then, Ebeneezer’s has remained a staple of the Minot community — a place where people gather, celebrate, and connect. Its success has always been driven by the loyalty of its customers and the dedication of its staff.

In 2026, new ownership took over with a commitment to preserving that legacy while continuing to build for the future. Plans include expanding the restaurant to a second floor and developing an outdoor patio space, ensuring Ebeneezer’s remains a downtown destination for years to come.
